Canine Corps organization added to PHP charity list
(From Valerie....) We are excited to add Canine Corps
to the Pets Helping Pets listing of charities. I heard of this great organization on NBC's Today show and
was deeply moved with the story. Paw Prints Dog Sanctuary, located in Central Pennsylvania, developed the Canine
Corps program to care for dogs whose owners have been deployed overseas in the military. The Today show segment interviewed
several service men and women who have dogs in the program, and you could easily see how emotional they were expressing their
gratitude for the Canine Corps program. (Paw Prints/Canine Corps has posted a link on their site for the Today Show
clip, follow the link below to bring up the Canine Corps website.)
While in the care of Canine Corps, the dogs have
their own house furnished with couches, comfy chairs, toys etc., where they can roam free with other canine
friends. There is also acres of land where the dogs get lots of outdoor exercise with their canine house-mates.
The program is offered free of charge to the dog's owners and includes, shelter, supervision, lots of TLC and all expenses
involved with feeding, medication and medical bills. The soldiers are comforted by knowing that their best friend
is well cared for, and that their canine friend will be there for them when they return home.
If you are resolving
to be more charitable in the New Year, this is a great organization to consider. In addition to contributing
to the pets' grocery, shelter and medical costs, you will also be personally thanking a small group
of active military personnel.
